Research assistant in plant biology and ecology 1 - Casablanca

Position Summary: We are seeking a research assistant to join our team and contribute to research in phytomanagement and phytoremediation of mining waste. This position is part of a multidisciplinary research project focused on the ecological rehabilitation of degraded mining soils. The in-depth study of local flora and its ecological functions is central to the sustainable revegetation of technosols. Responsibilities: Conduct phytoecological studies in mining sites and their surrounding areas. Characterize local plant species in terms of morphology, ecology, and functional traits. Participate in the analysis of stress tolerance (salinity, drought, heavy metals) of collected species. Contribute to the selection of plant species suitable for revegetation and phytoremediation. Assist in vegetation mapping and updating the floristic database. Work closely with researchers to interpret results and contribute to report writing.
Candidate Profile:

PhD or Masters degree (preferably), in plant biology, plant ecology, botany, biotechnology, environmental sciences, or agronomy. Skills in floristic inventory, functional trait analysis, and ecophysiology. Field experience in arid or degraded environments is highly valued. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Strong teamwork and collaborative problem-solving skills.

Additional Skills:

Familiarity with GIS and mapping tools. Strong writing skills (reports, publications). Drivers license preferred for field travel.
