The Peer Tutoring and Inclusion Coordinator is a key member of the Peer Success Services provided by the Center for Learning Excellence. Major duties include hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of CLE’s Peer Tutors.
Main Responsibilities:
• Lead the hiring and training process for the Peer Tutors.
• Ensure adequate follow-up and supervision of Peer Tutors.
• Organize periodic in-person observations for Peer Tutors.
• Collect and maintain an active feedback loop with Peer Tutors and Tutees through regular focus groups, surveys, session evaluations, etc.
• Conduct student satisfaction surveys regarding tutoring services and support the academic success of students requesting tutoring.
• Develop a reporting process to monitor and assess individual tutoring sessions.
• Promote the importance of Peer Tutoring services within the student community.
• Keep an active communication channel with current and potential service users via email, social media, web pages, or other means pertaining to Peer Tutoring services.
• Coordinate with different University stakeholders.
• Assess cases reported to the Inclusion Program in coordination with the Special Needs Coordinator, University Counseling Services, Listening Unit, DSA (Dean of Student Affairs) and VPAA (Vice President of Academic Affairs) Offices, Student Support Services, and Health Center whenever applicable.
• Coordinate with faculty members and corresponding schools to offer as much accommodation as possible to students in the Inclusion Program.
• Develop and implement actions/projects coordinated with CLE’s and overall University Strategic Plans.
• Contribute to different documents and documentation projects in relation to OIRE (i.e., Service Level Agreements, Policies and Procedures, Unit Strategic Plans, Data Management, and Unit Data Dashboards).
• Ensure a safe and friendly space for Peer Tutoring Services, whether within CLE space or in external spaces reserved for the Center.
• Build and maintain a library/database of tutoring materials based on contributions received from Faculty members, Peer Tutors, online resources, etc.
• Track Peer Tutors’ progress through the CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) training calendar.
Qualifications:
Candidates interested in applying for the Peer Tutoring and Inclusion Coordinator need to have:
• Excellent English communication skills.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Preferred Requirements:
• Experience with student success services or similar services. • Bachelor’s degree from a liberal-arts English-speaking institution
Personal and Behavioral characteristics / IT skills :
• Good knowledge of modern administrative practices, procedures, and equipment. • Good knowledge of fiscal and budgetary practices, purchasing, and office management. • Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking). • Fluent in Arabic; basic French. • Very good organizational and interpersonal skills. • Good problem-solving skills. • Adaptability and flexibility. • Ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail, and database software. • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English to perform the essential duties of the position (e.g., editing documents, taking meeting minutes, answering the phone). • Ability to make clear and accurate analyses of facts, figures, and processes. • Ability to present data, reports, and comments clearly and concisely. • Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective relationships with a wide variety of people; tact; courtesy; dependability; good judgment. • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information obtained through the course of completing assignments (e.g., personnel-related issues, projects).
